Unions ?

  1.          Unions are organized group of workers formed to protect their rights and interest also to have a voice in their workplace formed.  Also there differents types of unions.  For instance there are craft unions, credit unions, labor unions and more.  Workers of all ages are able to join unions.  Through unions workers gain betters wages, hours and other benefits.  However joining a union has many pros and cons.
  2.           By joining a unions it comes with many benefits.  For instance employer dental, life, and vision insurance which means on and off the job injuries are paid for.  Also minimum wage and eight hour work days this is a great benefit because employees used to be forced to work 12 hour work days.  Which caused employees to be very tired, have no time to themselves and it can cause mental disorders.  Also minimum wage is good because it allows workers to have a minimum standard of living and gives workers enough to support their family.
However in some people opinions unions are useless and arent needed anymore. Why might they say that ? Since the 20th century laws and other acts has been put together. Since before workers got little pay, worked long hours, and worked under unsanitary conditions. For instance, laws such as the civil rights acts, labor management relations laws, equal pay acts, and more has been put together. Therefore some might feel that labor unions arent needed anymore.

  1. InConclusion, all in all unions has many worker benefits.  However some might feel they arent neede anymore.  But without unions things may change and actions from the industrial revolution may occur again.  And if certain laws arent enacted things would be worst because it might cause endless hours of work and other slaughter working conditions again.  Therefore I feel unions are needed because with unions jobs are kept as fair as possible.

Industrialization Through Today’s Eyes

The Industrial Revolution was a period from the 18th to the 19th century.  The Industrial Revolution began in United Kingdom, and spreaded throughout Europe, North America, and eventually the world.  This revolution changed technology, manufacturing, mining, transport, and agriculture.  Also this revolution had many major effects not only did it change society but is change everyday life and the climate of the world.  The Industrial Revolution was a major turning point in history and it changed how people see life.

The Industrial Revolution brought about many benefits and disadvantages. Some benefits the industrial revolution brought about was it opened more factories therefore new jobs was created. And new technologies were created so mass production of goods grew.  Also the industrial revolution benefited working class men as well because laws were put together to better working conditions for them.  And not only that but it gave working class men political powers for instance working class men gained the rights to vote.  Also this revolution brought urbanization and increased the population for a healthier economy.  However the revolution had many disadvantages as well for instance it brought terrible hardship and unsanitary conditions.  Also it created low pay which led to a middle class and dismal living conditions.  But the worst disadvantage was it brought about child labor.

The Industrial Revolution had a bad impact on the earth as well.  It has polluted the earth and has contributed to of global warming.  The millions of factories that were built used coal and other harmful substances to keep the factories running. Factories would run non-stop for endless hours which made it able for the harmful substances enter the atmosphere.  Which also effects the climate change of the world and climate change is the global climate pattern.  Also this explains why certain regions are a certain temperature as well.  Therefore this is how the harmful and dangerous substances of the industrial revolution has effected climate change and the earth.

Child Labor Today

(Asia, Afghanistan The Youth Are Working
            Moving And Creating Bricks)
Child Labor Today

Child labor is the labor of children in unsanitary and dangerous conditions that harms them and keep them from attending school.  Throughout the world many actions can be taken and are taken in order to stop child labor in the U.S. But what can I do today about child labor ? Actions I may take that can be done today in order to stop child labor is create protest groups throughout the country. These groups will protest to the governments in countries where child labor is the worst until the labor laws are put into effect.

Child labor occurs throughout the world. One of the worst places were child labor occur is Myanmar, Asia.  Here in Myanmar 40 percent of children never enroll in school. Which means that many children was deprived of an education.  Also Sudan, Africa is a place thats ranked where child labor occurs the worst as well. In Sudan, children are commonly recruited as child soldiers.  Which not only mean they aren't able to get an education but at such young ages their lives are put on the line and they have no choice.
3. Somalia
                        (Africa, Somalia
                 Youth Recruited Soldiers )

Child labor often occur because children are more easily employed. They can work close to endless hours and receive very little pay.  And in some cases they are more manageable and easier to maneuver because the are young.  Also in some countries instead of going to school parents send their children to work.  In certain households parents does not make enough income so they send their child to work to try and help ends meet.

Young people can take action to try to stop child labor as well.  For instance the youth can inform people about child labor so people would boycott stores that exploit children. Also the youth worldwide can speak out against child labor to raise further awareness of this issue. The youth can also partner up with organizations like the National Child Labor Organization. And together they can write letters to countries with no child labor laws and persuade them to create some in their country.

The Crusades - Old and New

The Trial of Socrates

Athens, 399 BCE
It was a packed court room with 501 jurors, so there wouldnt be a equal vote.  Socrates stands accused of corrupting the youth and teaching new gods which violated Athenian laws such as not believing gods. Which when tallied was an apparently vote close and made Socrates guilty of the crimes against him.  Also in this case the trial recreated a atmosphere of a direct democracy and of depicting Socrates as deeply convinced of his own innocence.  And in this trial Socrates defense was Platoes Apology which spoke of a the cause of one's beliefs or actions. Also in the trial Socrates and his prosecutor suggested alternative democracy, and Socrates felt that old age would be unpleasant anyway.

My Opinion:

I feel justice wasn't served, because in my opinion people is intitled to feel or believe in what they want. And in this case if Socrates didnot agree or believe in the gods.  Therefore he should of had every right to believe in new god if thats the way he felt.  Also the facts that he was killed for that was a very cruel punishment so I feel justice was not served.

Gladiator v. Athlete.

A gladiator is man trained to fight with weapons against other men or wild animals in
arenas. Gladiators had to be quick, strong and intelligent. Also gladiators were usually volunteers that was looking for fame in the colosseum. And in some cases others were enslaved and forced to fight for entertainment. Also those chosen to be slaved were treated good except for when entering battle. As for their rights, they were still slaves, and used for entertainment. However on the other hand professional athletes are people can be men or women who are chosen to play on professional teams. Athletes are great professionals also athlete qualities requires them to show determination, discipline, focus, aggressiveness, commitment and love for the sport. Also you have to be physically fit, intelligent, and quick in some cases jus like a gladiator.  Males and females who become professional athletes begin training at a young age in some cases.  Also you’re usually not forced or enslaved to participate in these professional careers. However some people just become athletes for the fame and the money if they natural talent theres no love or other athletic qualities for the sport.
